Soccer

GENERAL INFORMATION

Our Silverspring Community Soccer program is intended to foster the development of our children with and around our community. The viability of the program is strongly linked to volunteerism – those individuals that coach, assistant coach or help out with our teams. Without them, our program would cease to exist. Therefore, we would encourage each of you to help us out with our soccer program!

REFUND POLICY
Refund requests must be submitted in writing to the applicable age group coordinator. Refunds will be subject to an administration fee unless SCA has initiated the refund. Refunds will be provided under the following conditions only:

  • The SCA has determined that the activity is not feasible as a result of either a lack of players or coaches.
  • A medical condition affects the participation by the participant prior to the refund deadline as outlined in the soccer guidelines. A doctor's note may be required.
  • A player is successful in making youth soccer. In this situation a $50 fee will be deducted from the original fees paid. This fee insures that if players do move up to youth soccer, these are funds to cover the team fees which have already been committed to SYSI.

There will no “In Person” registration this season as a result of low turn out in the past. If you prefer to make payment by cash or cheque please contact one of the soccer coordinators listed below. The On-line registration can be found at www.silverspringcommunity.ca

  2. Please note if you are registering your child/children in multiple sports we can not accommodate scheduling conflicts that may occur. Therefore, this should be a consideration when making the decision to do so. Refunds will not be given due to scheduling conflicts. Refunds will only be issued for emergency or medical reasons with a doctor’s note.

  3. Volunteer coaches will have to have a criminal record check completed prior to coaching. This must be done by early October 2017 and you will be reimbursed by our community association for the fees associated with the check. State on the form the position being applied for is “COACH”. Criminal Record Check Form. As a volunteer coach we will allow 2 children to be requested to be placed on your team. Your team’s equipment will not be handed out until your criminal record check is completed. Please note that the Criminal Check is only good for 1 year.

  4. SYSI requires volunteer coaches for U5 - U9 to attend coaching certification clinics for the appropriate age group as well as completion of the online Respect In Sport (RIS) certification. Contact SYSI for more information – all coach personnel must complete this online free training prior to their first game and it takes approx. 3 hours. https://sasksrc.respectgroupinc.com/secure/ There will also be coaching clinics offered to coaches by SYSI for each age group.

  5. While special requests for a child’s placement on a team may be considered if necessary (e.g. medical reason, hardship in attendance, etc.), it cannot be guaranteed. We can grant each head coach up to 2 special requests.  This is to encourage parent involvement and increase our coaching pool. Therefore, volunteer as a coach and your request will likely be granted.  We would encourage volunteers to coach or manage a team. An incentive will be provided for those individuals that decide to volunteer and are committed to building sport in our community. Please remember that it is a privilege to play community soccer and not a right. SSCA Soccer is run by volunteers so if there is no volunteer coaches for your child’s team, then there is a chance your child might not be able to play soccer.

  6. Late registration will be accepted only as space permits online from September 8, 2017 to September 11, 2017. NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE. A late registration fee of 50% of your child’s soccer fee will be charged.
