Youth Winter League

Welcome future hoops Stars!

Silverspring Youth Basketball functions in partnership with the Saskatoon Minor Basketball Association (SMBA) which includes the various communities throughout Saskatoon and surrounding area, running during the months of October through March.

Team practices are normally held weekday nights at either Mother Teresa or Silverspring elementary schools, with games held Saturdays in elementary and high school gyms around the city.

Silverspring Youth Basketball operates with the ideal that first and foremost the child should desire to play the sport of basketball to the best of their ability.  Satisfaction derived from mastering complex motor skills, combined with the thrill of intense competition will result in full enjoyment of this fine game.  Rules, fundamental movements, sportsmanship and co-operative team play will be heavily emphasized in all related activities.  Additionally, Parents, Spectators, Players and Coaches are expected to comply with the fair play code of conduct as adopted by the SMBA.

Silverspring Youth Basketball relies on parents and other caregivers not only for support of their player, but also for support in team activities such as: timekeeping/scorekeeping, team management and coaching duties.  Without volunteers in these areas, we simply cannot provide the option to play.  Please help ensure the sport of basketball stays strong in our community, and consider which roles you will perform upon registration.
