Silverspring Community Association Adult Programs for 2012 Winter season

  • Men’s Basketball  -  18+ at Silverspring School Large Gym, every Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:15 p.m, Jan 24 - Apr 3. 
  • Men's Floor Hockey  - 18+  at Silverspring School Large Gym, every Friday from 9:00 - 10:00pm. Jan 20 - Mar 30 
  • Smart Start Co-ed Badminton -  18+ at Silverspring School Large Gym, Wednesday from 9:00 to 10: 00 pm, Jan 25 - Apr 4 
  • Co-ed Volleyball -  18+ at Silverspring School Large Gym every Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00 p.m, Jan 19 - Apr 5. 
  • *NEW* Intro to Women's Kickboxing -  18+ Silverspring School Small Gym every Tuesday from 7:45 to 8:45pm, Jan 24 - Apr 3.  Learn the fundamentals of this exciting and dynamic sport from a Champion Full Contact Kickboxer! Nurture your power through real kickboxing conditioning drills and bag work- this is an introduction, but this in not your old Tae-bo class! You will learn how to throw, dodge and block punches and kicks in this fun and controlled environment. Bring a water bottlw and wear comfy workout clothes, no shoes please.   • Beginner Yoga - 18+ Silverspring School Small Gym Wednesday from 7:30 to 8:30pm, Jan 18 - Apr 4. This class is for those who are new to yoga or would like more demonstration of the combinations of yoga poses taught. Highly recommended if you are new to yoga or new to a fitness routine.  Basic poses can be altered for those with some yoga experience. You will learn techniques to strengthen, relax and stretch your body.  Please bring your own mat!
  • 1.5 hour Power Yoga - 18+ Silverspring School Small Gym Monday from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, Jan 23 - Apr 2. This extended class consists of beginner and intermediate yoga poses and encompasses the full body. Some yoga experience is recommended because the poses are held longer and require more strength to perform.   You will be using straps, and blocks.  Please bring your own mat! 
  • Beginner Mat Pilates - 18+ at Silverspring School Community Room every Tuesday from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m, Jan 17 - Apr 10. The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to porviding support to the entire spinal column. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and alignment of the spine, and aim to stregthen the deep torso muscles. This is a beginner class. Pilates mats are provided by the instructor.   
  • Beginner Spanish Class - 18+ Silverpsring School Community Room every Thursday from 6:30 - 7:30 pm, Jan 19 - Apr 5. This is an interactive and fun class that introduces the Spanish language to those interested in travel and latin culture.  Work sheets of vocabulary are given out each class. Highly recommended!!
  • Intermediate Spanish - 18+ Silverspring School Community Room every Thursday from 7:40 - 8:40pm, Jan 19 - Apr 5. An extension of the Beginner Spanish class to enhance your espanol even more! 
  • Beginner Belly Dancing - 18+ at Bishop Filevich School, every Monday from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m Jan 16 - Apr 2. This could be your road to tone - a medium level aerobic workout, increases core strength, increases flexibility, and improves posture...even while you shake it! 
  • Adult Zumba - 14+ and 18+ at Silverspring Schooll Small Gym every Thursday from 7:00 - 8:00 and 8:15 - 9:15pm, Jan 19 - Apr 5.  A fresh, fun workout that takes latin and dance rhythms and fuses them into the exercise routine to tone up your body and make you feel great!  With this fun cardio workout you will tone your arms, stomach, thighs and more! Come Join the Party!
  • Aerobics - 18+ at St. Volodymyr School Gym every Monday and/or Wednesday from 7:15 - 8:15 pm. Jan 23 - Apr 2. A 1-hour cardiovascular workout with your choice of high or low impact. your choice of one or two days/week.   
  • Coupled Salsa Dance - Absolute Beginners -  Couples 18+ at Silverspring School Small Gym every Friday from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m Jan 20 - Mar 30. Get a taste of different Latin dance styled in this introductory class for beginners. In each dance session, you'll learn a variety of dance steps and techniques. Students can wear whatever they are comfortable dancing in (street clothes are acceptable). Bring clean, non-scuffing shoes and a water bottle.
  • Tribal Fusion Intermediate Bellydancing - 18+ at Bishop Filevich School every Monday from 7:30 - 9:00pm, Jan 23 - Apr 2. A fun way to get a great abs workout!
  • Core Body - 18+ at Forest Grove School - Small Gym every Tuesday from 6:00 - 7:00pm Jan 24 - Apr 3.
  • Fitness Fun for 50+ - 18+ at  Centennial Collegiate Dance Studio every Wednesday from 6:00 -7:00pm Jan 25 - Apr 4.
